Uner B2B Technasia - Live @ DJ Mag HQ 2015

One DJ that's found his turntable soulmate is Diynamic's Uner, who's teamed up with Paris's house heavyweight Technasia for sets all over. Some of the most beautiful relationships began in the booth. We've all seen YouTube footage of Sven and Luciano “getting on” at the Ushuaia afterparty in 2009 (if you haven't, Google it). As well as a bit of fun — if done right — a b2b set can not only compound the pulling power of a name on a line-up, it can also pave the way for new, more interesting journeys. Once formed, a strong, harmonious DJ partnership is a difficult thing to break. WMC 2014, DELANEY'S, MIAMI “Of course, when I'm thinking about the best b2b sets the first one will always be the first one. The first time we played together during WMC2014. It was a special and intimate birthday party for Charles and we started to play together. Super natural. Everything started at this moment.” ANTS, USHUAIA “We also did a super special b2b in Ibiza, August 2014 with my colony, ANTS in Ushuaia, closing the main stage. It was massive! You can imagine how it was, with fireworks, lights, all the people dancing around, almost 9000 people in front of us for two hours full of energy, hierbas and the fantastic party, with all the Ushuaia stuff. Probably one to remember forever.” CHARADA CLUB DE BAILE, MADRID “I can remember also our first time in Madrid, in a super small club just for 100 or 150 people. The DJ booth was in front of the crowd. No stage. T he soundsystem sounded phat and it was super-hot, but we were playing for almost four hours with all these people completely into the journey and with a lot of friends supporting us. Another special night.” WATERGATE, BERLIN “One of my favourites was our first time in Watergate in Berlin. We were playing almost four hours also, and you know how it goes there when you can connect 100% with the clubbers. It was super intense! With the funky groove from Charles and my techno melodies, we arranged a special mind-trip playing and dancing together with the Watergate crowd.” DREAM BEACH FESTIVAL, SPAIN “Of course I can't forget the Dream Beach Festival in Spain, also the last of summer 2014. We were playing after Richie Hawtin and the festival was completely packed the two days; 40,000 people each date. So when we arrived the people were enjoying it a lot and it was our turn! Probably I could say it was the best b2b we did to date.” REVERSE “But I don't want to remember our special b2b sets without mentioning the b2bs we've done with our family and friends: Blue Marlin Ibiza, Reverse Ibiza, Reverse Madrid, etc... every b2b with our team is special. Why? Because we can feel the special love from all our people and they can also feel it. We are really proud to work with them and we are super grateful for all the effort. So every time we play for them is special!”

Low Steppa - Live @ DJ Mag HQ 2015

Low Steppa’s tenure in the scene has been short butexplosive due to his forward thinking and intelligent production work, making his popularity rise rapidly. Catapulting his career with his massive bootleg of Route 94’s ‘My Love’ reaching over 1.4million plays on YouTube in 2013 truly set the pace of things to come. The track received so much hype that Route 94 replaced his own version within club sets, giving it away for free across his social media channels. This prompted Low Steppa’s Soundcloud page to become an essential download destination for house fans. Now, a regular feature on the UK’s favourite radio shows, you can hear Low Steppa’s tracks on Kiss FM, Capital/ Capital Xtra FM and BBC Radio 1 Xtra. Since “My Love” success, notable productions include “Styling”, a collaboration with Sonny Fodera, entered the Beatport charts and peaked the top ten in addition to his most recent rework of Hardrive’s ‘Deep Inside’, which was picked up by legendary dance label Strictly Rhythm, also reaching No.1 on Traxsource within the first week of release. Playing Radio 1’s Big Weekend Opening Party, EDC Las Vegas and becoming a favourite with the Sankeys brand as a ‘one to watch’ in both Manchester and Ibiza clubs headlining and securing a summer 2015 residency, Low Steppa has reached new heights. House music’s new prodigy has received huge support from Radio 1 DJ’s Mistajam, Target, Cameo and B Traits as well as Pete Tong, Gorgon City and Shadow Child. The versatile talent, Low Steppa, has gone from strength to strength with his up and coming release ‘So Real’ being released in June 2015 on Universal’s premiere dance imprint label, All Around The World Records. You can hear Low Steppa on UK radio station Rinse FM for his resident show every third Friday of the month from 1-3am.

J.Phlip and Huxley - Live @ DJ Mag HQ 2015

Hard earned respect from your peers is a rare commodity but Huxley, aka Michael Dodman, has it in spades. Since his late teens he’s been producing, seeing initial underground success as a garage producer before his sound partly mutated towards a deeper, house-based sound in the past few years. Collaborations with old mate Ethyl for the then hot-as-hell Cecille imprint in 2009 showed a producer receiving massive support for what instantly seemed like a fully developed sound. Since then, Huxley has delivered releases for an enviable roster of labels (Tsuba, Morris Audio, Fear of Flying, Hypercolour and 20:20 Vision for starters) and has stayed true to his robust, bass-led strain of house music that reflects his formative interests in UK and US Garage, with critics, punters and peers lapping up each release and remix. Whether veering towards deeper vibes alongside Ethyl on his own Saints & Sonnets imprint, turning in cast iron grooves for Tsuba or full vocal barnstormers like his lauded ‘Let It Go’ single for Hypercolour early 2012, there’s a clearly defined but pliable and versatile sound to Huxley productions that marks him out as a truly talented producer. As a remixer, the Tring (Herfordshire, UK) man is hugely in demand, turning his hand to major label talents with as much flair and skills as he does underground cornerstones like Like Burridge or Maya Jane Coles. Completing the picture is his Djing – another perfect string to his bow that sees him tour his open minded and deftly programmed music selections in clubs and festivals across the world on a weekly basis. Going forward, there’s more of the impeccable same and more than a smattering of surprises on the way from Huxley. Singles for his tight knit group of labels (he just describes them as ‘mates’), more collaborative projects with the likes of Sam Russo and Ethyl, production projects for vocalists (he’s not naming names) and carefully chosen remixes are all on the way and, if anyone who has heard recent sets for Rinse FM and Fact Magazine will know, more on-point DJ sets that span house, garage, techno and beyond.
