The Lab LDN is Mixmag and Coors Light's weekly live stream, powered by Void Acoustics, where we showcase the finest DJs direct from our world famous office party.
This week we welcome Norman Jay, whose impact on UK dance music culture from soundsystems to radio is unparalleled. Jay is one of the country’s most beloved music figures, receiving an MBE for ‘deejaying and services to music’ from the Queen herself in 2002. He co-founded the legendary Good Times soundsystem and London dance music institution, as well as championing the rare groove and acid jazz scenes, the latter with Gilles Peterson via label Talkin’ Loud which he started in 1990.
Jay’s talent as a selector also extends to compilations of which he’s made 11, with the latest ‘Mister Good Times’ coming via Sunday Best Recordings on August 25. He’ll be celebrating that release with one of his famous Good Times parties at Mick’s Garage on August 27.
