Ever since his release on Hot Creations sub-label Hottrax, Topping has been one of dance music’s brightest new names. Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ label was instrumental in fostering Topping’s talent, releasing five of his EPs that included techy floorfillers ‘Forget’ and ‘Taking Libz’.

But it’s in the last 12 months that his star has really begun to shine, reflected in a residency at DC-10, playing Detroit’s Movement, Ultra in Miami and what he describes as “the pinnacle of US festivals”, Coachella.

Not that the recent exposure has gone to his head. When we put Topping on our cover in May, he took us to his home of North Shields, Newcastle and showed us around his local haunts, including the fish and chips shop.
