John Acquaviva - Live @ Mixmag Lab LA 2016

Italian-born, Canadian-raised Acquaviva has continued to grow his outstanding career for almost four decades. Thanks to his technical and taste-making abilities and his progressive mentality, John has made a name for himself as the prolific and masterful producer and businessman we know today. In 1990 he founded Plus8 records with none other than Richie Hawtin, which saw their own initial releases, along with music from Kenny Larkin and other Detroit-techno artists. By 1993, he and Richie founded their influential tech-house driven imprint, Definitive Recordings, which Acquaviva still heads today. Following their success as A&R masters, these two would go on to aid in the invention of Final Scratch. With his veteran knowledge of electronic music, John Acquaviva has continued to imprint upon modern day dance music as one of the original founders of today's Beatport.com. Fresh off of BPM 2016 and on his way to the National Association of Music Merchants convention, it's a true honor that John will stopping by to throw down in The Lab LA.

The Chicago native is somewhat of a house music visionary, who has managed to dedicate himself to a variety of unique projects aside from his strong solo career. Most notably, he's the co-founder of the incredible label and party-brand Hot Creations, which he runs with Jamie Jones. Aside from that, Lee and Jamie also founded the live electronic crossover band Hot Natured, with Luca Cazal, Ali Love and additional vocals from Anabel Englund. Lee Foss has also spent the last year making music and on occasion performing as the supergroup Pleasure State, alongside Anabel and the one and only MK.

Apollonia - Live @ Mixmag Lab LDN 2015 Christmas Special

Former Mixmag cover stars Dan Ghenacia, Shonky and Dyed Soundorom were already highly respected globe-conquering DJs before their spontaneous back to back sets at clubs like DC10, Fabric and Panorama Bar led them to pool their talents into Apollonia. To cut a long story short, Dan Ghenacia ran notorious afterparties in Paris and his massively respected label Freak N' Chic. Shonky had his first release on the label in 2005. All the while Dyed Soundorom was making a name for himself with incredible sets and releases like the (still) impeccable 'Question' (also on Freak 'n' Chic). They found themselves playing together more and more often and out of that Apollonia was born. This will be their third appearance on Mixmag TV: we filmed them two years ago at BPM festival in Mexico and at Syncrophone Records, Paris for their 100% Vinyl set. Dan and Dyed have also done Lab sets a few years ago, but all three together, armed with the freshest tech-house and retro Christmas jumpers promises to be one of our most riotous office parties to date.
