WhoMadeWho - Live @ Næstved, Denmark with Bjarke Ingels Group's SKUM 2021
This live concert film was a special experience for us – in particular for Barfod who grew up in the Danish countryside, 500 meters from the field it was filmed at. The days leading up to the video shoot were as chaotic as usual for WhoMadeWho... The initial location got cancelled, and with no place to film, Tomas called his family who still live in the area. We also underestimated SKUM and it's sheer size. Apparently it needed more effort to place a half ton and 20 meter long structure than we had anticipated. And of course, 60 min before recording it began to rain... Thanks to family, friends, and a strong crew we managed to pull this off and we think the result came out magnificent and showcases a dramatic Danish sunset at its best. The video was premiered by Lightning In A Bottle Festival a few weeks ago and now you can finally watch in on our YouTube. THANKS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED especially Bjarke Ingels Group, Jakob Lange, Mads Vegas Lightning, Oliver and Carsten at Effect Management, Aldo Pavia, Jonas Jakobsen, Morten W. Anja Schneider is a DJ, producer, radio broadcaster, label boss, tireless creative force and mentor. Currently, two years into her Sous Music project, Anja continues to operate as one of electronic music’s most vital artists. Sous Music is a deeply personal project, that allows Anja the creative freedom and personal connection with her own music and that of the talent she helps to develop via the label. Beginning with the release of Schneider’s own nine-track album ‘SoMe’ in November 2017 - crowned by DJ Mag as Album of the Month and described by Mixmag as ‘a seamless, soulful blend of underground house and techno.’ - a steady but thoughtful flow of releases has followed, focusing on Anja’s sophisticated take on house and techno alongside music from exciting artists such as Francesca Lombardo, Billy Turner, Madben, Markus Suckut and Angioma; demonstrating Anja’s strong commitment to new outstanding new talent in the same way as her previous label Mobilee gave a platform to Maya Jane Coles, Solomun and Nicole Moudaber, long before they became the household names they are today As a broadcaster, Schneider’s holds the prime-time Friday night slot at major Berlin broadcaster Radio Eins, with a weekly show ‘Club Room’ which is syndicated globally to a international network of FM and digital stations. Continuing where her Fritz Radio program ‘Dance Under the Blue Moon’ left off, Anja Schneider has been responsible for introducing a generation of Berliners to electronic music since 2000. Nastia - Live @ Ore Pit Mine #3 “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” x Scary Beautiful #7 2021
Scary Beautiful - DJ Nastia’s audiovisual project created in collaboration with Ballantine’s is finally back with new episodes and an exciting second season. Prepare yourself for a whirlwind of new music and hauntingly mesmerizing locations. For the second episode of the new Season, Nastia once again joined forces with the industrial giant “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih”. Following Nastia and her mission to promote rising and promising underground artists, the DJ and label owner continues to share new underground music and has prepared a powerful techno mix (техно микс). “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” - Ukraine’s largest full-cycle metallurgical enterprise. This time filming took place in a truly unique and hauntingly breathtaking location - the iron ore pit mine Quarry #3 of “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih”. The company is part of the international corporation ArcelorMittal - the world’s leading producer of steel - from iron ore mining to steel production. The birth of steel begins in the open-pit mine where iron ore is mined with an iron content of up to 32%. Afterward, it is enriched in ore beneficiation plants, and iron ore concentrate gets extracted leaving it with an iron content of more than 65%. Then cast iron is smelted from semi-finished products and other raw materials in blast furnaces, which becomes the basis for the production of steel - the most common material in the world. “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih” (АрселорМиттал) annually produces more than 6 million tons of steel, more than 5 million tons of rolled products, and more than 5 and a half million tons of cast iron. The iron ore reserves in the company's two quarries will last for several decades. The #3 iron quarry supplies more than 14 million tons of iron ore per year. The total area of the mining and processing production in ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Арселор Миттал) is 4084.9 hectares of which the quarries take up 648 hectares, while the external waste dumps are 1119 hectares, the tailings - 863 hectares, and the industrial site - 822 hectares of land. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the leading exporter of iron in Ukraine. 85% of finished products are transported abroad. Ukrainian steel is becoming the basis of structures in 65 countries around the world, in all climatic zones of Earth. Modern and reliable infrastructure facilities around the world are being built from “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih”’s steel: the Flame Towers skyscraper complex is the national symbol of Azerbaijan, the world's tallest skyscraper Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Olympic National Sports Complex, and the new terminal D of Boryspil International Airport in Ukraine, as well as the Shelter facility - a protective sarcophagus over the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The joint project of Anastasia Topolska (Настя Топольская) and Ballantine’s continues to acquaint the audience with the fascinating places of Ukraine and opens up techno and electronic music to the world. Scary Beautiful was first launched on November 24, 2020, and presented five episodes shot at five unique locations in Ukraine, including the Morozovsky Quarry, Chernobyl-2, Tarakanivsky Fort, Carpathian mountains, and the ArcelorMittal factory. The first season of Scary Beautiful had more than 300,000 views and received the support of such global media platforms like MixMag, ResidentAdvisor, Electronic Groove, DJ Mag Italia, and many others. Nastia will once again play a DJ set at each location which will consist of techno music (techno set, techno mix) consisting of unreleased tracks by Ukrainian and foreign electronic producers. Subsequently, the selected songs will be included as part of future LPs on Nastia’s label NECHTO. "NECHTO released 5 releases of the first episodes of Scary Beautiful, and after the open call of the second season, I received 4 times more demo tracks than the first time. The project resonates with the public and continues to support the global music community, giving beginners a chance to present themselves in the world arena, ” says Nastia. As the world is slowly getting back to normal during the pandemic, Nastia DJ continues to support the global music community and club music by exposing fresh and upcoming talents. Scary Beautiful is aimed to not only support new artists but also holds an objective of discovering our world anew and seeing it from a perspective that is so frightfully enchanting.
